LENS Neurofeedback: A Gentle Approach to Better Sleep
At Refuge Neurofeedback, we use the Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS)—a gentle, non-invasive technology that supports your brain in self-regulating for improved sleep.
LENS differs from traditional neurofeedback by working passively.
It uses ultra-low electromagnetic signals—thousands of times weaker than a cellphone—to help the brain reset and release stuck patterns that may be interfering with sleep.
Clinical studies show that individuals who receive LENS neurofeedback often report significant improvements in sleep quality, with an average 54% improvement in sleep-related symptoms (Donaldson, Donaldson, & Moran, 2013).
3 Steps to Relief
FAQ
-
LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System) is a specialized type of neurofeedback that uses very gentle electrical signals to help the brain reorganize and regulate itself. This process helps improve brain functioning naturally, without medication or invasive treatments.
-
LENS has been shown to help individuals who experience anxiety, depression, ADHD, sleep disorders, migraines and other headaches, and symptoms related to trauma, concussions, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and other central nervous system related issues.
-
During a session, you’ll sit comfortably with your eyes closed while small sensors are placed on your scalp to measure your brainwaves. The LENS device delivers a tiny, imperceptible signal back to your brain. Each session is brief, usually lasting only a few minutes, and requires no active participation from you.
-
Yes, LENS neurofeedback is extremely safe and has been widely used without significant side effects. A small number of people might experience mild fatigue or temporary intensification of symptoms immediately following treatment, but these typically resolve within a day or two.
-
The number of sessions needed varies depending on the individual and the severity of their symptoms. Many people notice improvements within 3–6 sessions. However, more lasting results generally require between 10–20 sessions, and individuals with long-term, complex issues might benefit from additional session.

We do not directly bill insurance companies at this time. However, we are happy to provide you with a detailed invoice called a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance provider. Depending on your insurance plan, you may be eligible to receive partial reimbursement for our services.
Struggling with Sleepless Nights?
Do you find it hard to fall asleep or stay asleep through the night?
Do racing thoughts, stress, or anxiety keep your mind restless when you're trying to unwind?
You're not alone. Millions of people experience poor sleep, insomnia, or disrupted sleep patterns. At Refuge Neurofeedback, we offer a calming, research-backed approach to help your brain return to its natural rhythm of rest and recovery.
The Hidden Costs of Poor Sleep
Sleep issues go beyond tiredness.
They can drain your energy, impair focus, disrupt your mood, and weaken your immune system. Chronic sleep problems are linked to increased rates of anxiety, depression, and other stress-related health issues (Donaldson, Donaldson, & Moran, 2013).
Waking up refreshed and focused is possible with the right support.

LENS supports long-term regulation, helping the brain shift into patterns that promote consistent, restorative sleep (Larsen, Harrington, & Hicks, 2006).
Imagine Waking Up Rested and Ready
Picture falling asleep with ease, staying asleep through the night, and waking up ready to face your day with clarity and energy.
Many clients report noticeable, lasting improvements in both sleep and overall well-being after completing their treatment program (Larsen, Harrington, & Hicks, 2006; Donaldson et al., 2013).
